Proper hand hygiene is essential to a healthy learning environment. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hand hygiene is one of the most important steps in preventing illness. The program should provide the products, systems and education that encourage students to practice hand hygiene; including encouraging frequent hand washing, using PURELL hand sanitizer when hand washing isn't available or convenient and hand hygiene education.
This type of comprehensive approach is the best way to ensure proper hand hygiene and stop the spread of germs in schools.
While an aggressive hand washing campaign is the first thing a school should do combat germs - sometimes hand washing is not available or convenient in a school setting.
